1 Bach. J attended the release of a new film “El 47” and met the director Marcel Barrena who explained the features of this awarded film . After this experience they summed up the story and the meeting in a project in English which will be presented in their class.
A codex is a book from before the invention of the printing press. It’s written by hand and consists of a set of booklets that are sewn together.
2º ESO students have made a page of a codex using the typical writing for music in the Middle Ages: four lines instead of five and square notation.
Some of the material they have created are displayed on the blue board in the corridor.
The results are amazing. You have to see them for yourself!
One of the best ways to understand History is to feel the same experience of our forefathers. That’s what 1 ESO C students have done in a Cuneiform Writing Workshop where they have had the opportunity of creating ancient tablets and discover how we used to communicate in the past.

A bit later than usual, we celebrated Halloween with different events . The previous weeks, our language assistants told how Halloween is celebrated in their native countries and about its history.
But the main activities were made on 7th November. Early in the morning, the International Baccaulareate students told scary stories to all the 1 ESO students.
Afterwards, 3º ESO students created an amazing Scary Treasure Hunt with two different murder stories where 1 ESO students had to find and solve clues around different places in our high school to achieve a sweet and groovy goal. Students really had fun while going through rooms and corridors they haven’t been before.
Other groups, did activities in their classes of English and decorated their doors and walls with ghosts, witches and monsters to celebrate this tradition which is so typical in all English speaking countries.
2 ESO students watched a video about the Macabre Dance by Camille Saint Saëns and they had to fill a form with questions about the composer and the instruments .
The students of 1 ESO C showed exceptional skills and creativity in recreating Stone Age tools during the workshop, showcasing impressive dedication and teamwork.
3 ESO students with her teacher Clara Cuellar have created an amazing wall painting mixing different types of typography and graffiti on newspaper sheets to raise awareness about the importance of the individual role to achieve a global change to fight in favour of social justice ,peace and environmental issues.
The 2 ESO students were tasked with creating a poster as an environmental campaign/group in which they describe an environmental issue in their region or other countries. Moreover, they used the internet to search for information about the long term problems they may create as well as possible future solutions that their group proposes. Creativity was encouraged and valued while creating the title, slogan and design for the project.
Last Tuesday, 1 ESO students received their prizes after participating in the contest to make “a nature journal”. We are amazed by the quality of the works and we want to show you some examples from the winners.
During the following week, we will celebrate St Patrick’s Day with different activities (A Scavenger Hunt, Presentations about Ireland, Workshops to make a Leprechaun hat and a shamrock and lucky four-leaf clover,etc). In those presentations, our language assistants Lindsay Keller and David Hidrogo will tell us about one of the most famous symbols of Irish Culture. This is a festivity which takes place in different parts of the world (because Irish people travelled all over the world through its history) and it is known for its friendly atmosphere full of traditional music and dancing.
So, don’t forget to wear green clothes next week and enjoy this celebration.

The Department of Biology, the Aldea Project and the Bilingual Programme designed an activity outdoors to show students the power of observation. 1 ESO students walked through a park near our high school to look for plants, flowers, trees … to compose their nature journals.
After a quick talk to explain the activity, they were divided in groups to find natural models to illustrate their sketchbooks. It was not an artistic purpose. The main goal was to pay attention to all the details that Nature brings us and show them in their diaries using drawings and words. The students enjoyed the experience and ,as a final project, they will make a nature journal collecting the different pages they created in this activity.
