Our colorful board shows a variety of activities and illustrations about Ireland and the USA, created by the language assistants in the bilingual programme and our students. It includes fun facts, cultural symbols, traditional foods, and famous landmarks from both countries. The board is decorated with drawings, maps, and student-made crafts that highlight differences and similarities between Irish and American culture. It’s an engaging and educational display that brings both countries to life for our students.

We take advantage of this entry to thank our language assistants Aoife and Max for their work and attitude during this course and we hope we will be in contact for future activities.

It has been a great course with lots of activities and we are looking forward to meeting you in September.

1 ESO A students have been researching and answering questions about Ancient Egypt to participate in an interactive activity in The University of Manchester website. Our language assistant, Aoife Clenaghan helped them in this task where they enjoyed as much as learned about this amazing civilization.

3 ESO students filmed videos to explain the elements of polyhedra and bodies of resolution and the way to calculate area and volume. The most entertaining part of the task was the search for figures with these shapes that we can find in our daily life.

Maths are fun and interesting!

We finish this entry with a song by Sting which plays with the similarity of geometric figures and feelings .

The students of 1ESO C recently worked on an English learning situation in which they designed plans and models of imaginary cities.

Through this activity, they were able to practice the vocabulary (places in the city) and grammatical structures (asking and giving directions) that they had learned in class, while developing their creativity, teamwork, and oral and written expression.

The result was a wide variety of cities, each with its own style and made with different materials, reflecting the imagination and involvement of each group.

Based on the proposal offered by INTEF, 4°A students have carried out the activity “Letters from the trenches”, in which had to put themselves in the shoes of one of its protagonists. The First World War is one of the cruelest episodes in our history and it is worth remembering its heroes through letters that talk about their experiences and the terrible conditions they faced. Some of these students also dared to address the topic through comics.The aim was to develop historical empathy and understanding of War events through creative writing. I Hope you like it!

These are some examples of lapbooks prepared by 3°A students about the importance of different economic sectors in Europe.These students have used these lapbooks as support to present the topic during geography lessons.

To celebrate the World Book Day and Easter, 1 ESO A and 4 ESO students, their teacher Sensi and our language assistant, Max, participated in a lively and exciting Easter Egg Hunt. Divided into small teams, students used clues about English authors and works written in English to find hidden eggs scattered around the playground, classrooms,corridors and our library . Students learn about Jane Austen, Charlotte Brönte, Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare and Agatha Christie.

The hunt was not only a great way to enjoy this special day but also an opportunity to practice teamwork, problem-solving, English skills and their knowledge about English literature.

Last week, our language assistants Aoife and Max told us about St.Patrick’s Day not only in Ireland but in different parts of the world. Students listened to a presentation about the history of this festivity and its worldwide relevance especially in those countries where the Irish people migrated. Then, we listened to Irish songs, learnt about Irish pronunciation and discuss about cultural topics. At the end, students elaborated some posters illustrating the activity and you can see them on the Bilingual Programme Board.

In the evening classes, ESPA and 1 Bach students watched ONCE a musical film with Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova about two musicians in the streets of Dublin while tasting delicious Irish scones with marmalade and cups of tea. The perfect combination to enjoy St Patrick’s Day.

3º ESO students have created tessellations with Escher’s inspiration in art classes.
They have transformed an equilateral triangle to create their own module and rotated it to draw the tessellation. They have used their imagination to try to find a figurative shape inside the module.

Partners and friends celebrate a day which is more than only an excuse for shopping, Its long and rich history, its legends, customs and traditions around the world show the relevance of this special event.

Some of the activities that we will do on this special day are: decoration of boards, exchange of Valentine’s cards, creation of love poems and contests to show our knowledge about the origin of this tradition and the reasons of being a worldwide festivity.

1 IB Students have used famous scenes from Shakespeare’s plays to recreate toxic relationships and 2 IB students made up stories from historical events to make us reflect about love matters.
